On your marks—it is never too late to begin. As the saying goes, better late than never.

Starting your travel journey does not require grand plans or distant destinations. It begins with a single, intentional step. Exploring your local surroundings and nearby destinations can ignite your curiosity, build confidence, and prepare you for the journeys ahead. Over time, these experiences come together to form a personal repertoire of destinations, gradually shaping your travel history and readiness to explore the wider world.

As travel consultants, we are often asked where to go and what to do first. Our advice is simple: start with Africa. The continent is rich in culture, landscapes, and experiences—each destination offering something unique and deeply rewarding. One journey leads to another, and before long, you are no longer just a traveler, but a global explorer—what many fondly call a globetrotter.

Travel is never a loss. Each journey adds value in ways that extend far beyond the trip itself. Those who travel often develop deeper insight, greater confidence, and a broader perspective on life—qualities shaped by exposure to diverse people, cultures, and environments.

Your journey does not have to start far away. It simply has to start.
